Q.

Can I check my Fastnetspain email on my smartphone or mobile device?

A.

Yes. The instructions are below but you should be aware that the first time you check your email after it is configured your device may attempt to download ALL emails that have not been deleted from the server. In order to see if you have emails left on the server you can login to your account at www.mail2web.com and delete any that you no longer need.

Your account should be configured as a POP/POP3 mail account with the following settings:-

Incoming mail server: mail.fastnetspain.net
Account name: use your full email address
Password: If you don't know your password please contact us and we will change it for you as we don't keep passwords on file and do not have the ability to look them up on the server.
Incoming Port: 110 (on iPhone or iPad you may have to disable SSL to set this correctly)

The Outgoing Mail Server requires authentication. If the option is offered to use same settings as Incoming Mail server, tick the box.
Authentication is by password.
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.fastnetspain.net
Account name: use your full email address
Password: as above
Outgoing Port: 25 (or 26 if you have problems sending with 25) disable SSL if it is enabled by default.

If you do all this and it doesn't work contact us and we will talk you through it.

Q.

I want to check my Fastnetspain e-mail while I am back in the UK or on holiday outside of Spain. How can I do this?

A. If you have a portable computer or other mobile device, your settings do not need to be altered and will work anywhere all you need to do is get connected to the Internet and you are good to go.

If you will only have access to the Internet on a public computer (e.g. Cyber Cafe) you will need to access your e-mail through a web browser e.g. Internet Explorer/FireFox/Google Chrome. The easiest way to do this is to go to www.mail2web.com. Simply enter your email address and password and you will have full access to read, reply to and delete your emails from any computer in the world (as long as it is connected to the Internet).

I am having problems downloading my e-mails, it keeps getting blocked on the same message. Can I find out who this message is from and delete it from the server?

A. Yes. Go to www.mail2web.com and login with your email address and password. You will then have full access to read, reply to and delete emails that are on the server.

Q.

I'm getting quite  lot of SPAM, what can I do to block it?

A. There are several ways to deal with spam, some of which are more effective than others. A lot of anti-spam software tends to be over zealous and block messages that you want to receive.

My personal recommendation is a service like SpamArrest which sends out a reply to everyone that sends you an email asking them to confirm that they are human. They only have to do this once, then their future emails come straight through to you. But the spam can't pass the "human" test so you never receive it. Spamarrest gives a 30 free trial, then they charge $50 per year which is about 30 euros, so if you decided to go for that service it would still add up to less than you were paying before, now that the annual fastnetspain fees have been reduced.

Here is a link to take you to spamarrest's 30 day free trial
